Allied Health Assistant (AHA)

Allied Health Assistant (AHA) | Supporting your Therapy programs

Our Allied Health Assistant (AHA) service supports the delivery of care prescribed by your Physiotherapist, Exercise Physiologist, or Occupational Therapist.

AHAs assist with delegated components of your therapy program under clinician supervision, helping you practise exercises and activities safely and consistently.

What is an Allied Health Assistant?

An Allied Health Assistant (AHA) works under the direction and supervision of a qualified Allied Health Professional, such as a Physiotherapist, Exercise Physiologist, or Occupational Therapist.

At Sarah’s Physio To Go, AHAs support clients by assisting with prescribed exercises and activities that form part of an existing therapy plan. This allows therapy programs to be delivered more consistently while maintaining appropriate clinical oversight.

Why Choose the AHA Model?

The AHA model allows clients to receive additional support while remaining under the care of their treating clinician.

Benefits of the AHA model include:

    • Increased opportunity to practise prescribed exercises and activities

    • Support delivered under clinician guidance

    • A cost-effective way to maintain therapy programs

    • Consistent reinforcement of therapy goals

    • Ongoing communication between AHAs and supervising clinicians

How it Works: The SPTG "Team" Approach

    • Your Physiotherapist, Exercise Physiologist, or Occupational Therapist completes an assessment and develops your therapy plan

    • The clinician determines which components of the plan can be delegated to an Allied Health Assistant

    • The AHA delivers delegated exercises or activities under supervision

    • Progress is monitored and reviewed by the supervising clinician

Is an AHA Right for You?

An Allied Health Assistant may be suitable if you:

  • Are currently receiving Physiotherapy, Exercise Physiology, or Occupational Therapy

  • Require additional support to practise prescribed activities

  • Are working towards functional or rehabilitation goals

  • Benefit from structured and supervised practice

Your treating clinician will determine whether AHA support is appropriate for your individual needs.
